There are two flight modes.
Firstly, in tethered mode the endurance (or loiter time) is
determined by the usage of the camera and servo batteries in
the camera pod. On average the airship operates the cameras
in hourly cycles; thereafter a quick 5 minute battery changeover
is required and the next cycle can begin.
Secondly, in remote controlled mode (untethered) the endurance
is limited by the motor batteries to approx 45 minute flight
cycles; thereafter, a quick 5 minute recovery and battery changeover
is required and the airship can be re-launched - we would normally
change the camera batteries at the same time.
As part of the changeover process the data storage media (cards
or tape) will also be replaced.
